Welcome to the homepage of the Department of General Internal Medicine and Psychosomatics!
The Department of General Internal Medicine and Psychosomatics is the oldest psychosomatic hospital in Germany and stands for psychosomatic medicine and psychotherapy at the highest level. The department is integrated with wards and outpatient clinics in both the Center for Internal Medicine and the Center for Psychosocial Medicine of the University Hospital. This offers excellent opportunities for therapeutic care of the entire spectrum of diseases that arise from the interaction of body, mind and social factors. The treatment spectrum ranges from psychological, often stress-related diseases, which primarily manifest themselves in physical symptoms (e.g. irritable bowel) to physical illnesses (e.g. cancer, cardiovascular diseases), which subsequently lead to psychosomatic burden, anxiety or depression.
The common goal of our team of doctors, psychotherapists, nursing staff, creative therapists (e.g. body therapy) and social workers is to offer psychosomatic-psychotherapeutic treatment according to the highest academic quality standards. The care takes place on a total of four wards, two day clinics, one evening clinic and in several general and specialized outpatient clinics.
As a research-active hospital, it is our interest to combine patient care with innovative and successful research and to make new scientific findings available for therapy at an early stage.
We cordially invite you to visit our homepage to learn more about patient care, research and teaching. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any further questions about our department.
