In the framework of the European ESTHER
Initative ( Ensemble pour une Solidarité
Therapeutique Hospitalière en Reseau) since
2008 the institute is engaged – together with
infectious disease departments in Cologne
and Bonn – in a partnership with medical
department of the Kamuzu Central Hospital
in Lilongwe Malawi called MAGNET (Malawi
German Networking for capacity building in
treatment, training and research at Kamuzu
Central Hospital).
The overall objective of this partnership is
to improve the quality of patient care and
the teaching and training for the final year
medical students. A German medical doctor
is placed at the department, teaching ward
rounds are conducted by visiting faculty,
Florian Neuhann teaching EpiInfo in Lilongwe, Malawi.
