Department of Infectious Diseases and Tropical Medicine
Welcome to the Department of Infectious Diseases and Tropical Medicine
Our department provides comprehensive inpatient and outpatient care for patients with infectious diseases at the University Hospital.
We offer specialized interdisciplinary care through our consultation service, in close collaboration with Clinic IV (Gastroenterology, Infectious Diseases, and Toxicology) and the Thorax Clinic. Through our consultation service, we support other departments in the management of patients with complex infections. We also provide outpatient care for patients dealing with complex infectious, tropical, migratory or travel-related conditions, as well as those who require post-inpatient care with parenteral or complex oral anti-infective therapy. Our clinical focus is on diseases such as tuberculosis, non-tuberculous mycobacteria, invasive fungal infections, and echinococcosis.
We are committed to providing high-quality care based on the latest advances in clinical medicine, in close partnership with physicians and researchers from a wide range of specialties. Through our research, we contribute to the advancement of medical knowledge nationally and globally. We are certified as a center for infectious diseases by the German Society for Infectiology and we are also part of the Center for Rare Diseases.
Additionally, we offer travel medicine consultations to help you prepare before traveling, when you are preparing to work abroad, or after you return from abroad.
Our goal is to provide personalized, high-quality care to all our patients, taking into account their individual needs. We also strive to provide exceptional training for the next generation of physicians and researchers in the fields of infectious diseases and tropical medicine.
Yours sincerely,
Claudia Denkinger and the entire ID team
