Our team of specialists offers a consultation service for infectious diseases and tropical medicine for all patients at the UKHD, particularly in the case of nosocomial infections, foreign body-associated and opportunistic infectious diseases. We provide advice on all diagnostic and therapeutic issues. We also carry out interdisciplinary ward rounds with the hospital pharmacy and microbiology department on selected wards.

The majority of our work takes place at the patient's bedside. For patients outside the UKHD, we provide advice by telephone: Tel. 06221-56-310204

The aim of our work is to optimize the quality of care, antimicrobial and diagnostic stewardship and to reduce the length of inpatient stays through early outpatient treatment.

A board with colleagues from other departments is held every 14 days for interdisciplinary discussion of complex cases. Registration at  .
