Outpatient parenteral anti-infective therapy (APAT)

Outpatient parenteral anti-infective therapy is a new form of care that has been established in Germany in recent years. Patients who require intravenous anti-infective therapy to treat a complex infection can administer it themselves or have it administered by a caregiver at home. This shortens the inpatient stay and allows patients to recover more quickly in their familiar surroundings. For cases identified as part of the consultation service, we organize APAT with cooperating outpatient pharmacies and look after those affected during and after APAT in our outpatient clinic.
