Workplace inspections are an essential part of occupational health tasks. As part of the inspections, the company doctor can recognise hazards and incorrect workloads and recommend measures to the employer to reduce them. Regular inspections are carried out, for example

• as part of participation in risk assessments
• as part of general workplace inspections

In addition to regular inspections at certain intervals, inspections can also be carried out on specific occasions, for example

• when a pregnancy is reported (Maternity Protection Act)
• in the event of suspected work-related illnesses (§ 3 ASiG)
• to assess workplace conditions at the request of the employee
• at the request or order of the supervisory authorities
