Professor Dr. Dr. Stefan Listl

Full Professor of Translational Health Economics & Director of the Oral Health Section

Stefan Listl is Professor of Translational Health Economics and Director of the Oral Health Section at Heidelberg Institute of Global Health. His research focuses on health economics and improvement science with particular emphasis on identifying and implementing better governance, financial, and healthcare delivery arrangements to optimize people’s oral and general health both globally and locally.  

Stefan has been Principal Investigator on several research grants. His research activities have been supported by funding organizations such as the European Commission, the European Union, the US National Institutes of Health, the German Innovation Fund, the German Agency for International Cooperation, and the Dutch Research Council.

Stefan is a member of the WHO Working Group for Prioritization of Cost-Efficient Oral Health Interventions and of the Lancet Oral Health Commission. He previously served on the Steering Committee for the WHO Global Oral Health Status Report. In addition, he contributed to the FDI World Dental Federation Vision 2030 Report, the World Economic Forum White Paper on Oral Health, and the US National Institutes of Health Report on Oral Health in America. He also served as consultant for Harvard University's Malaysia Health Systems project and contributed to the oral health standard set of the International Consortium for Health Outcomes Measurement. Stefan spoke at oral health policy events at United Nations High-Level Meetings and in the EU Parliament.

Stefan also is Adjunct Professor at the University of Pennsylvania (USA) and at Radboud University (Netherlands) and was a Visiting Professor at McMaster University (Canada).
