Outpatient services billing department

All outpatient services are billed to various cost bearers in the Outpatient Services Billing department. In addition to invoicing, the department is also responsible for maintaining case data and clearing (duplicate or incorrectly recorded patient data).

The largest billing area in terms of case numbers is the university outpatient clinic.

We also bill the following areas (listed here as examples):

  • Outpatient operations and measures replacing inpatient treatment in accordance with Section 115b SGB V
  • Psychiatric institute outpatient clinic in accordance with Section 118 SGB V
  • Social paediatric centre in accordance with § 119 SGB V
  • Outpatient co-treatment (commissioned services from other hospitals)
  • Specialised outpatient palliative care
  • Outpatient rehabilitation after cochlear implantation

The department is also responsible for coordinating and ensuring private liquidation. Invoicing is carried out by an external billing company.

Other focal points are the implementation of changes in billing tariffs, calculations and assessments of new services for the outpatient clinics, case reviews following negative MDK reports and regular reporting on the outpatient services provided.
