Marian Abrafi Osei
Doctoral Student
Marian Abrafi Osei is a nutritional scientist currently pursuing her doctorate in Global Health at the University of Heidelberg Institute of Global Health. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Community Nutrition and a Master of Philosophy in Human Nutrition and Dietetics.
Presently, her interest is to research into the complex relationships between infectious diseases, dietary patterns and cardio-metabolic conditions.
For her Master studies, she researched into the efficacy of acute malnutrition management among selected nutrition rehabilitation sites in the Ashanti Region of Ghana.
Before joining Heidelberg Institute of Global Health (HIGH), she was the lead dietitian at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Hospital in Kumasi, Ghana. She served as a clinical preceptor- training and mentoring many nutrition and dietetics students. Her career goal is to help improve the nutritional status of individuals particularly vulnerable groups through research, clinical nutrition rehabilitation and intervention.
