Research Group Global Health Policies and Systems
Unit Profile
In this interdisciplinary working group (public health, anthropology, law, …) we monitor, analyze, and contribute to the global debate on major global health policy issues and processes, with a focus on priority setting and leadership in Global Health, the implementation and monitoring of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically the health-related SDG, the link between health and environment, migration issues, and models for global partnerships in research and development. To adequately address these multi-sectoral themes we collaborate with various organizations and institutions in and outside the health sector, such as the European Academic Global Health Alliance, the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), the International Organization of Migration (IOM), the Heidelberg Center for the Environment, the Marsilius Kolleg Heidelberg, Medico International, BRAC in Bangladesh, the University of Development Studies in Tamale, Ghana, and many more.
Research Topics
The working group has expertise in research topics such as access to medicines, health and migration, health and human rights, universal health coverage, global health security, global health governance, and global health research and development.
Methods Expertise
The methods employed include policy analysis, qualitative methods (e.g. focus group discussions, in-depth interviews), systematic reviews, case studies, and surveys.
