Priv.-Doz. Dr. med Benito Campos, MBA

Group Leader

Benito Campos is head of the Science Communication Research group at the Heidelberg Institute of Global Health. He is a board-certified neurosurgeon with an MBA from Mannheim Business School. Originally graduating as medical doctor from Heidelberg University, he received further training as visiting researcher at UC Berkeley, the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard, the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Technical University of Denmark where he served as affiliated associated professor. Over the last 20 years, his medical research interests included a broad range of fields, including oncology, bioinformatics, immunology, nutrition and chronic pain.

Paula Reimann

Scientist

Paula Reimann received medical training at the University of Münster and is pursuing a bachelor's degree in Political Science, Administrative Science, and Sociology at the FernUniversität in Hagen. She currently heads the research efforts at the Science Communication Research group. Her scientific interests include visualization of medical information, medical communication on social media and barriers to science communication.

Annegret Trettin

Associated group member

Annegret Trettin is an associated group member. She holds a diploma in Languages, Economic and Cultural Studies with a focus on Ibero-American Studies from the University of Passau and has extensive experience in strategic program development and international cooperation. Annegret has previously led regional departments for Latin America and Africa at Baden-Württemberg International and worked on various projects related to education, health, and community development. In addition, she held a leading position as referent for education at the Baden-Württemberg Stiftung, where she oversaw strategic program development and managed multiple educational programs. Her research interests include global science communication, science communication on social media, and barriers to effective science communication.

 

Prof. Lars Rønn Olsen, PhD

Associated Group Member

Lars Olsen is an engineer and research group leader at the University of Copenhagen and an associated group member at the Science Communication Research group

His expertise includes bioinformatics, data science, machine learning, immunology, oncology, single-cell technology, therapeutic targets, diagnostics, precision medicine, translational research, and clinical trials. Committed to science communication, Lars explores innovative ways to share healthcare and precision medicine insights with both peers and the public.
