Caroline Bulstra, DVM MHSc PhD
Research Associate
Dr. Bulstra’s research with the Health Systems Innovation Lab focusses on designing and testing healthcare delivery innovations to integrate and optimise healthcare for chronic diseases in areas with the largest healthcare demands.
Caroline did her PhD at the Erasmus MC Department of Public Health in Rotterdam, Netherlands, where she applied geospatial modelling approaches to (i) identify high-risk areas, (ii) unravel transmission dynamics, and (iii) identify population-level risk factors for HIV, malaria and various Neglected Tropical Diseases (leprosy, visceral leishmaniasis, soil-transmitted helminths) in the Global South.
She holds positions at the Heidelberg Institute for Global Health and at the Harvard Health Systems Innovation Lab in Boston (USA), where she is currently based.
Caroline has been involved in various consultancy projects for UN organisations, among which the World Bank, WHO and UNAIDS.
