Dr. Anja Schoeps

Affiliated Epidemiologist

Anja Schoeps has been working extensively on child mortality and birth outcomes in Burkina Faso and Sub-Saharan Africa. Currently, she is mainly working on infectious disease surveillance in the public health sector but is continuing research as an affiliated epidemiologist at HIGH.


  • 2019 – 2020: PostDoc with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Elizabeth Peterson at the School of Psychology (University of Auckland, New Zealand), funded by DFG-Forschungsstipendium
  • 2017 – 2019: PostDoc with Prof. Dr. Sabine Gabrysch at HIGH
  • 2012 – 2017: PhD in epidemiology (summa cum laude) supervised by Prof. Dr. Heiko Becher at HIGH
  • 2010 – 2012: Master of Science in Epidemiology at the Johannes Gutenberg-University Mainz, Master thesis at the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ)
