DBS-based assays in general are particularly suitable for blood collection by patients themselves or with the help of relatives at home and can easily be sent to our laboratory by regular mail. Other common applications include blood collection from children and neonates to reduce blood volumes and make blood collection less invasive. In these contexts, the ACL is looking for collaboration partners to develop further DBS-based drug determinations for clinical trials and other applications. Therapeutic drug monitoring for Direct Oral Anticoagulants (DOAC) and Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (PAH) drugs are already available as DBS.
