Dr. Julia Lemp
Postdoc
Julia Lemp earned her doctorate (Dr. Sc. Hum.) from the Institute of Global Health and the Medical Faculty Heidelberg in 2024, where she applied quasi-experimental methods to evaluate the impact of a large-scale diabetes prevention program. With an academic foundation in psychology, her research focuses on understanding both individual and systemic determinants of health behaviors and leveraging data-driven approaches to design and evaluate interventions that promote health equity and inform policy.
She is now a postdoctoral researcher at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) in Toronto, Canada, working at the Institute for Mental Health Policy Research. As part of the SIMAH project, her current research focuses on disentangling the effects of alcohol policy interventions on U.S. population health using an advanced microsimulation model.
In addition to her postdoctoral work, Julia continues to collaborate on a research project in Heidelberg that examines the population health effects of cancer screening programs using electronic health record data.
Previously, she contributed to several global health initiatives, including the Global Health and Population Project on Access to Care for Cardiometabolic Diseases (HPACC) and the Improving Primary Care for Hypertension and Alcohol Problems in Thailand (ABSTHAIN) project. She also gained valuable experience at the Leibniz Institute for the Social Sciences (GESIS) and through an internship at the World Health Organization (WHO) Regional Office for the Western Pacific in Manila.
