Julia Lemp, MSc
Doctoral student
Julia Lemp is a doctoral student at the Institute of Global Health since October 2019. With a background in psychology, her research interests lie in understanding the individual and macro-level determinants of health behaviors and finding effective interventions to address them. Her work is centered on reducing risk factors for non-communicable diseases, such as smoking, poor nutrition, hazardous alcohol consumption, physical inactivity, and weight management. For her dissertation, she primarily uses rigorous quasi-experimental methods to evaluate a large-scale diabetes prevention program.
Apart from her dissertation work, she is involved in collaborative projects that have a global impact. She is a collaborator on the Global Health and Population Project on Access to Care for Cardiometabolic Diseases (HPACC) as well as the Improving Primary Care for Hypertension and Alcohol Problems in Thailand (ABSTHAIN) project and the Simulation of Alcohol Control Policies for Health Equity (SIMAH) project.
Prior to her doctoral studies, she worked as a research assistant at the Leibniz Institute for the Social Sciences (GESIS) in Mannheim. She also completed an internship at the World Health Organization (WHO) Regional Office for the Western Pacific in Manila, further enhancing her understanding of global health issues and policy-making.
