Sone Samuel Njie, MIPH

As a medical anthropologist, Samuel’s work focuses on addressing public health challenges through evidence-based research and integrated programming (community interventions) in the areas of sexual reproductive health, maternal and child health, neglected tropical disease.

Samuel uses qualitative research methods to understand not only how beliefs and norms can be applied in disease prevention but can equally play a pivotal role in addressing cultural barriers to community health services for children and women in communities using social and behavior change.  His research work has equally supported advocacy and policy for integrating social and behavior change in existing sexual reproductive health, maternal and child health and NTDs programmes.

Before joining the Global Child Health Research Group at Heidelberg, Samuel supported research activities in Niger and Cameroon for the Agency for All USAID-funded project that will generate evidence on the role of agency in effective social and behavior change programming to improve health and well-being for individuals and communities.

Samuel studied Sociology & Anthropology at the University of Buea and a holds Master’s in Public Health from the Catholic University of Central Africa (UCAC) Yaoundé, Cameroon.
