Heidelberg University Hospital and Medical Faculty

Our mission

Our task is the internal and external communication of the hospital and faculty. As the central point of contact, we provide information about our centre's clinical, research and teaching services to specific target groups - to more than 14,000 colleagues as well as the general public. We organise major events and central campaigns, are responsible for the brand image and develop new communication formats.

We develop innovative solutions in a broad-based team. So that modern medicine reaches people and research is understood.

  • Who we are

We are where new knowledge is created. We are driven by big ideas, complex questions and decisive advances in science and patient care. We are convinced that real innovation is only possible through dialogue.
This is why Corporate Communications manages, advises and implements the communication activities of the hospital and the Faculty of Medicine. We are the mediators in the dialogue between employees, institutions, the media, the public and politics.

Our divisions - Corporate Communications

The press office is the point of contact for the media. We inform the public about important developments in patient care, research and teaching through press releases and press events. We offer journalists access to medical experts and provide support with interview requests and filming appointments at the hospital.

The central element of online communication is the website, which was technically and creatively redesigned in spring 2019. The web team also manages a further 45 websites for subsidiaries, departments, institutions, SFBs, etc. The hospital's online presence will soon be supplemented by an international website.

The corporate design is the essential basis for a uniform and brand-supporting image. The Corporate Communications graphics department is responsible for maintaining and further developing the corporate design, for designing and printing graphic products, architectural visualisations, designing logos and much more.

The current CI/CD of the University Hospital and the Faculty of Medicine can be found in the brand portal, as well as the logos and acronyms of UKHD and MFHD.

We will be happy to answer any questions you may have about corporate design, graphics and printing:

The hospital's visual language must fit harmoniously into the corporate design and is its supporting consultant. The corporate communications photographers create motifs:

  • for medical documentation
  • for press relations
  • for service presentations
  • for the presentation of our employees

3D products and videos are an increasingly important means of presenting complex and emotional contexts. These offer the opportunity to bring content and stories to life interactively and to reach the viewer more easily.

The Social Media department manages and develops the hospital's central social media channels Facebook©, Instagram©, Twitter© and YouTube©. It ensures responsible use of these fast-response channels, uses them to communicate current topics and provides employees with guidance on how to use them appropriately.

The aim of internal communication is to inform UKHD and MFHD employees about important corporate policy issues and to make management decisions transparent. The central format for internal communication is the intranet.

The central formats of internal communication are the employee magazine "Klinikticker" and the intranet. The print edition of the Klinikticker is published three times a year and is supplemented by an online presence with regular contributions. The intranet is currently being relaunched.

The Events department is responsible for planning and implementing central events that affect the entire hospital and are initiated and authorised by the Executive Board, such as the New Year receptions, award ceremonies and the European Researchers Night.
