Maira has multidisciplinary training in public administration and medical anthropology. She likes to observe health entanglements firsthand and has conducted fieldwork in Pakistan for her bachelor and master’s theses. Her research interests include health systems and policy, implementation science, health inequities, feminism, and migration. Before joining as a PhD candidate, she has worked as a student assistant at the health financing unit of HIGH on projects related to patient satisfaction of HIV systems integration, and the effects of user fees. Creative methods of conducting research and disseminating it, inspire her.
Maira’s PhD research is on the Social Health Protection Initiative in Pakistan.
