Production of sterile preparations
In the sterile department of the hospital pharmacy, large quantities of preparations are produced that are either sterilised in the final container or manufactured under purely aseptic conditions. The demand for such products has risen sharply in recent years, with the focus shifting from large batches of a few products to a larger number of specialised products manufactured in smaller batches.
The driving force behind these productions are, on the one hand, requirements for medicinal products that are not commercially available and, on the other hand, in-house production is often significantly cheaper than a comparable finished product.
