Strategic Purchasing for Laboratory Diagnostics is a professional service provided by the pharmacy. It advises, accompanies and supports all users in clinical diagnostics as well as in the research units in the procurement of all necessary diagnostics and reagents. With the help of transparent contracts, it ensures the sustainable cost-effectiveness of the work in the laboratories and thus reduces costs while simultaneously promoting quality and innovation.

To this end, he has a strong internal network, regularly participates in the laboratory and POCT commission and liaises with the medical directors, their senior physicians and laboratory managers. Regular visits to trade fairs, congresses, symposia and training courses form the basis for the specialist advice. In addition to supporting the ZIM (Centre for Medical and Information Technology) in matters relating to tenders and equipment purchasing, Strategic Purchasing is regularly consulted for budget discussions.

The establishment, coordination and collaboration in the laboratory association of five university hospitals (DFFHM) provides the necessary market power for price negotiations. The employees see themselves as competent contacts for all questions relating to orders. They ensure that all requests from the clinic are processed on a daily basis so that the laboratories receive their materials quickly. They monitor the entire ordering process and maintain contact with all companies, both in the office and in the field, in order to provide users with prompt feedback in the event of queries.

The employees in Operational Purchasing are continuously informed by Strategic Purchasing about changes to contracts, their conditions or supplier changes. This dovetailing leads to optimised order processing with simultaneous monitoring of prices, offers and the industry's ability to deliver.
