The pharmacy of Heidelberg University Hospital offers pharmacists the opportunity to do a doctorate. The work is carried out in co-operation with the Hygiene Institute of the University of Heidelberg. Natural scientists can write an inaugural dissertation in Heidelberg to obtain the Doctor scientiarum humanarum (Dr. sc. hum.) from the Heidelberg Medical Faculty. The pharmacist has the opportunity to work in the hospital pharmacy and for further training in "Clinical Pharmacy".

 

Scientific focus: pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic studies with antibiotics and antimycotics, development of study plans and study reports, conception, organisation and implementation of clinical studies in collaboration with clinicians, stability and compatibility studies, release models, possibly molecular biological experiments.

 

The working methods include pharmaceutical analysis (especially HPLC analysis, UV/VIS and IR spectroscopy) and microbiological investigation methods. This involves the establishment, optimisation and quality assurance of existing methods and the introduction of new methods.
